OK, OK – debt is a serious issue and should be treated that way. Too many people tend to blow it off and continue to spend irresponsibly. I think most of us get that.

However, possibly an even worse outcome than not taking debt seriously enough is taking debt TOO SERIOUSLY. Credit card debt (and debt in general) can eat at people so much that it can easily drive some to clinical depression.

Such things as alcoholism, drug abuse, domestic abuse – and even worse, suicide – can result from people letting debt devour their lives.

That’s why I try to keep some debt humor in this blog/site. Yes – keeping debt in its proper serious perspective is important so that we remember not to let it get out of hand and end up in bankruptcy. But keeping your sense of humor and actually LAUGHING is critical to our mental well-being. Laughter is like rays of sunshine and blue sky shining through an otherwise dismal gray overcast. It allows you moments of relief and release that are important to keeping our positive outlook on life, and looking forward to the next new day and all the positive possibilities it can bring.
